jane_haze,

I did a few shows on a yahoo chat room I thought it would be a good idea for my friends that live out of the country to hear my shit. The basic idea is good but I need the laughter and the mic allways tends to breakup for the over seas listeners.

smjmcomic,

Yeah, I thought about that. Then you get all self conscious...was that funny?!?! I was trying to figure ways around that. Maybe with a "lol" when something was funny, or leaving everyones mic on...I don't know. Just trying to get around all those technicalities....oh like, in no way will yahoo ever be a real comedy club!

micahth,
just be dilligent in writing material, and tell your own jokes. I'm a nice guy, just be kind to everyone. Because all they can say is, your a good person and that goes a long way. And will earn you favors in the future, if you need stage time. Trust me it works.

When writing material, always try to outdo the Jerry Lewis typewriter routine. do this and you will unlock a goldmine.

Jennifer,

Again, perfect advice. The other thing I'd add is to only do stuff that you feel. It's gotta make you laugh first.

NickFlanagan,
I know I'm showing my ass here. But what is the Jerry Lewis typewriter routine?

Though an open mike type show may not work on line, a writing group type thing might work. Maybe you guys are already doing this.

Someone puts out a bit and eeveryone starts adding to it, punches and tags, other premises or pov's. It could probably turn a 1 minute bit into 5-7 minutes.

Just a suggestion.

Gaff, I was just being silly, making reference to the routine where that fast classical music plays and Jerry Lewis mimes that he is furiously typing on a typewriter, punctuating stops in the music by pretending to flip that lever that indicates you're at the end of the page. Did I explain that correctly? I didn't dream this routine, did I?
