smjmcomic,
Gilda Radner - there's a blast from the past. I loved watching her on Saturday Night Live. I was so young - that's the only place I ever saw her perform - but she was so fun!

sahnja,
And a few movies - including one with wild Wilder. She seemed like a sweetheart.

Gene Wilder thinks he's a legend in his own mind? Well, in a way...he's right! He is a legend. But if he's thinking that while he's around Richard, he should check himself. He's in good company.
On screen, I adore him. I don't know him personally, so I have no reason not to. Still, kinda sad. Of all people to be pompous, not Dr. Frankenstein, or Willie Wonka! Wonka was pretty pompous though...

jane_haze,
I agree, I love Wilder. I hate to think of him as being pompous. But it's easy to confuse the talent with the person.
The rumor is, (shit, I just blanked on his name) the guy who directed one of the Batman movies and who made Beetlejuice and Nightmore Before Christmas, the Burton guy, he's the one directing the remake of Willy Wonka. Now I'm alright with him but not for this. You know the whole movie will end up feeling like the scene in the boat tunnel where the chicken head is cut off - a little dark and a little creepy.

Tim Burton? And all will be composed with Danny Elfman supplying the music.

I thought Wilder was awesome in Wonka, but the musical element and the visuals also helped make it great. If Tim Burton is indeed handling the remake, I'm excited--except for the fact the his version of Planet Of The Apes was totally unecessary.
