Something I have noticed... If you ever walk by a bar/club and Public Enemy is blasting from the sound system, it is [/i]ALWAYS[/i] full of white people.

That's the trend for most hip-hop regardless of its context.

Man it surprised me in junior high when my locker mate of all people was bumping it (oh did I mention he was also a white guy and this was back in the day)

I think their logo and the music plus they had "Bring The Noise" on the "Less Than Zero"(damn julian) soundtrack and gave the shout out to Anthrax!!!

I thought it was funny. Back when I was in school I went to schools in the suburbs that were for all intents and purposes "white" schools. The first black classmate I had was my friend Tiffany in 6th grade. Before then, I caught hell because I had several friends that were black from my old neighborhood, and was branded a "white nigger." After Tiffany showed up, I graduated to "nigger lover!" I didn't care. I had been in fights before, and got in fights again. (Tiffany moved away suddenly, from what I hear due to a burned cross incident.)

Anyway, what all this backround was setting up is that I caught hell because when the other guys in this school were jamming heavy metal, I was into RUN-DMC, Whodini, and L.L. Cool J. About 88 or 89 something strange happened. I lost interest in the new rap that was coming out. It was just shit to me. The next thing I know, all these idiots who were into heavy metal are asking me if I got the new tape by 2 Live Crew or NWA. They couldn't believe it when I told them I didn't like it... "But you're into rap!" It seemed that as I lost interest in rap, all the other white people suddenly liked it! That was at about the time my mother walked into my room with her jaw hanging open and asked me "What are you listening to?" I replied: "Lou Rawls." "You actually know what this is???"

Needless to say, I was never very popular going to school out there in suburbia, but mom wouldn't let me switch schools to where I wanted to go... (I was at Pershing H.S. in Detroit so damn much the track coach saw me running the track and asked me to join the team!)
