JTF and hellifiknow,
Yeah I never knew that was Lennon (or at least never thought about it...) Both of those songs are cool but give me Donny Hathaway's "This Christmas" over all of those anyday!!!
Anyways I always remember thinking it was some kind of competition between the UK's
http://www.inthe80s.com/xmaslst.shtml - BAND AID' and the
http://www.inthe80s.com/weworld.shtml - USA FOR AFRICA'back in the days to see who could outshine the other to save Africa. But I see that Geldolf also was part of "We Are The World" too.

I don't recall ever hearing that but I'll have to check it out

Africa gets a lot of help but last I heard they're still dying by the thousands while the so called saviors all look pretty fat, of course here I sit throwin...

I was just checking out info regarding the "one" campaign at
www.one.org (sorry aint figured out the right way to link). Sounds good but I was wondering if you had heard anything.
ddp, I heard the same Geldoff/Inxs stuff, wasn't it something about Geldoff having custody of his daughter? Probably media bs, but your right,,great band.

hellifiknow,
hello....I never heard of the Geldoff/INXS thing before this....all I heard was Geldoff used to be in a very little known band an had this idea of the songs to unite the singers an supposedly help someone....this catapulted his band from obscurity....but they never made it but Geldoff keeps coming forward to do these songs....cause it gets him in the limelight I guess....I heard that some food made it to the ports an sat there....people came from the middle of Africa to get it but most of it was spoiled then....I guess money and jobs made it into the pockets of those sending the food....but they had no thought to send it any further.....there was of course the thiefs an robbers along the way.....an there at the ports too....I liked a coupla songs that INXS did....too bad about the guy commiting suicide....I still ain't figured out if Geldoff was good or bad....but yeah he brought knowledge to this problem....

Appaloosa,
Yeah it's like JTF said earlier "bigger fish". Geldoff seems sincere and I'm sure his hearts in the right place but he can't collect and distribute I suppose. I kinda wonder about that intelligent life on other planets stuff, we sure seem to spend a lot of money proving there aint none here.
