JTF,
are you talking about that looking for lub in all the wrong places song?

Trudy,

oh I've heard Jim Reeves growing up. my grandma got me into country. she loved her some Glenn Campbell too. that's the beauty of New Orleans and growing up w/the jazz fest every year (man I'm gonna miss that as I don't think New Orleans will "return). but you get to hear it all: country, gospel, jazz, blues (that bar room blues too ) zydeco, rock, r&b. and something different was on at everybody's house

classical was the only thing I got into on my own.

Andy Gibb - Shadow Dancing ...nuff said ...
I grew up on A.M radio...
and my Mom had the Captain & Tennille 's Love will keep us together 8 track...1975 record of the year ,that right record of the year {they has their own TV Show }
...but if you guys want some 70 's tunes you have to have some Ohio Players , anything by Marvin Gaye ,the Stylistics, Barry White or Teddy Pendergrass.,John Denver was great .
The 70's song that drove me to learn how to play guitar
Go All the Way , ...The Raspberries. Greatest riff of the decade ...case closed. B-)

bcddjjsc690,

yeah definitely case closed w/The Raspberries

I still have a Stylistics "You Make Me Feel Brand New" 45 along w/a few other classics from the 50's that I kept from my mom's collection all the way to early 80's on 45.

I used to wear out my Juice Newton 45 "The Sweetest Thing", but 45 still looks as good as new. I wonder what happened to her?

had to replace the Dells & Platters w/CDs.

what's weird is I have no Beatles or Paul McCartney. I have just about everyone, including rare Leonard Cohen stuff. I guess because everyone else had Beatles collections which were always being played or something was always on the radio, never bought anything by them.

tamra,
I have an original copy of Sgt. Pepper complete with the stickers and album sleeve in mint condition ....
I also have about 300 other albums from the 60 's 70 ' 80 's.I love my vinyl ..
I can remember having Beatles Colorforms ....
Although I was mostly listening to Motown then, A radio was always on in our house {AM}...at least till Dad came home .My parents gave me my love for music , My father had 100's of records,He loved the Big Band era, He knew the Mills Brothers ,and I still remember the night he took my Mom to see Count Basie, I was in 3rd grade , and Mom came home with a dollar bill signed by the Count Himself..
