funkycomic,
The first time I eever heard Richard Pryor was when I was about ten, no, twelve. Yeah, twelve. My parents and I had just had a huge discussion about how I was still too young to see PG-13 movie; they then took me to the CD store so I could buy something. I started looking through the comedy CD's and found a Richard Pryor CD by the name of "...iss it something I said?". They weren't too familiar with him (my parents are from Europe), and I definitely wasn't, so they bought it for me. I believe shortly after that day I became quite connected with the words 'Fuck' and 'Pussy'. I'm so happy I found that CD because it kept me from becoming the FUCKING PUSSY that I may have turned out to be.

bingolong,
Speaking of stories and testimonies, I felt very touched on MLK day, when our very own Amp-d went on stage and gave up props to Rich. It was a fab show anyway, but that made it thatmuch better.
I wish I remembered exactly what he said, but all I can remember is having a bittersweet smile and wished I could bring up Rich like that and have a point instead of random comments.
You know, even though I never met him, I miss him.

It's like I almost feel I took the fact he was still the great living legend for granted, like he'd always be here fighting for truth no matter where he was or what was going on with Jennifer right there with him.
Speaking of Jen, how are you doing? We haven't heard much from you, girl. You still hangin' in there?

bingolong,
Everytime I see or hear Mr. Pryor I think of these guys. In the sixties Verl and Marvin got sent to our primarily white grade school so all the kids would have something to stare at, later I got sent to the Jr. high in their nieghborhood so all the kids would have something to beat the shit out of. You can blame me being here on these guys, especially Verl...I mentioned him in a post about how we used to see how people would react if we called each other racial slurs and then started fighting...of course by the time we got to high school everybody was used to it and ignored us, everybody but that mace sprayin security guard motherfucker.
I miss Richard, Verl and Marvin very much and owe a lot to all three of them.
