hubpluh,
The sitcom in question was called 'Goodnight Sweetheart' and although you guys probably liked the quaint approach it took (typically innocent Brits during the blitz - say that when you're one eyed!!!) it was a bit 2D for most peoples tastes here.
Fawlty Towers - now there is a show. Did you know that Cleese had a nervous breakdown after he finished filming them (you can see that he's close to the edge throughout).
The biggest thing to hit here in the UK in recent years has been The Office. Increadibly well observed and played. If you can get a hold of the original (not the shite US remake) then it will be money well spent.
There is also a very recent show called Little Britain that is surreal, character driven humour that is almost -almost - as good as The Fast Show (Johnny Depp is a huuuuge fan of this).
You cannot go wrong with any of these. (Fucking hell I sound like a snake oil salesman!!!)

garfy1974,
Yea, thanks for the title, I can definatley see the 2D of it, I've always just loved the thought of time travel and actually be able to witness history instead of just reading it in papers and so forth. The idea I fell in love with more than the show. I used to wish I had a majic mail box that I could right letters to famous people of the past and it would actually be sent to them! I was like 8 or 9 at the time, but I still remember that!
Most of the US spin offs of shows suck ass, quite litterally. We can't pull off some of the things ya'll can with just a look. Most recently was the craptacular version of 'Coupling'. I enjoyed the original long before it moved here, especially the one that was half in Hebrew with subtitles. I have that episode on tape somewhere. "Boobs!"
I'll check the other stuff out. It sounds as though I'd enjoy it.

YAY!

I'm sold!

garfy1974,
Oh...it's not because you're a limey that you probably don't get it. I imagine the majority of the yanks don't get it either.
It's actually based on a stand-up bit/quotes.
Colon and Bushy boy claimed the WMD's were being hidden by "shadowy figures" and he blamed a lot of stuff on, maybe even the shadow dog. I'm not sure where to seperate stand-up and truth about the dog part...but the shadowy figures I have heard.
The stand-up goes something like this, "(in a high-ranking official tone) slide one. This is the shadow dog (shadow hand puppet-dog). The shadow dog is very deadly. A huge threat to peace and a threat to american defence. Next slide please. (Shadow hand puppet of bunny) This is the shadow bunny. Equally as dangerous as the dog. The bunny is armed and dangerous...."
It's got a stand-up message and it's anti-bush political.

NickFlanagan,
Judi Dench is pretty hot in her own right. She was in this one flick... I think it was a 'made for TV/cable' something called The Last of the Blonde Bombshells where she gave a steller performance, and played the shit outta a sax. She got kinda randy in it too, just because a woman is older than what society tells us, doesn't mean she's lost her sexuality!

astonamous,
Yea, sorry about that that is my fault (drastic subject change) I have a habit of doing that... Python and such got me started on other British Comedy type stuff... I could get into books as well... :p But I think I'll leave that to another discusion.
Ciao Ciao

jane_haze,
I like the train of thought regarding the black rabbit. What would be really funny would be to see hand gestured silhouettes instead of professional images though. The kind you used to make as kids.
Is it me or have we gotten off the point a bit here?
Fuck it - as long as it raises a titter.
