Now, back to the topic of this thread!
7 Years & 6 Months started out as a thought in a young man's head. Then, he set about, against great odds, to produce his own film. When times were rough and funds weren't always there, he still did it & maintained his sanity! He had to deal will all types of personalities in actors, to get them to work out the way his script actually read, he had to line up all the shoot locations, to get the shots that he wanted for his film. After this extensive process, he had to edit all of the material to get it into form to go to print. Not to mention to get the funds to do all of this - while working a FULL-TIME gig. He even had to find a down azz homey to put the SOUNDTRACK down (that would be you Bingo), that made a GREAT movie even greater. When I first heard the soundtrack and then saw the movie, it was like awesome. Both worked so well together.
Even after that, he still faced major obstacles. The world just isn't set up to be easy for an independant film maker. But who said anything easy was worth it? From the start to the finish has been a true testiment to this man's stamina. Knowing all that I do about this project,- all the successes, the failures, the stresses, the happiness, the joys, the tears, the hi's and the lows, I can not do anything but tip my hat to this MAN and say "Well Done". He handled it ALL with poise, diginity, maturity and sound/ level-headed thinking. So, on that note, I do not have NOTHING but Love and respect for this Brother.
Now DougDigitalPro, is almost to the finished line, with an AWESOME product of his creation, a WEBSITE dedicated to his craft, A product line, Contacts and contracts + an awesome review!
My man is STANDING ON THE TOP! So let him shine, while he is getting his!
Everyone on this site knows that I truly have love for this MAN, but standing outside of that, I have to say - when thinking of him, of where he has come from, to where he is now, to where he is about to go (STRAIGHT TO THE TOP!), I am awestruck. AND, as a strong, intelligent BLACK MAN, I am extremely proud of him. As I am proud of ANYONE who can pull up their boot straps, has the gumption, the wherewithall, and the drive to get out there and make some real shit happen and SUCCEED.
& that's real.
