bingolong & Murph,

I waited up to catch the next airing too, damn near fell over waiting since it was after 2am. and will be trying to catch it this Saturday. I kept saying that voice (Sam Jackson) is very familiar, then a light bulb went off when he said "beverage" and "say what again". ain't like I haven't watched Pulp Fiction or Jackie Brown over 1000 times to not have recognized him right away.

but the bankers son (Charlie Murphy's character) is Ed the III. those two combined, that shit was hilarious
, they were out of control  ("I got the name while yall was whupping niggas asses in the streets") and there was even still a positive message in the story line.

I thought it was supposed to be the "Itis" show to air, but I guess that one won't come later.

these are definitely series DVDs must haves

by the way, for those who can't catch it on Saturday or Sunday night, on Fridays from 11pm to 6am EST you can catch a random show airing on adultswim.com -- click the Friday Nite Fix link.

not sure about dialup connections, but high speed internet would be ideal

Sharpton criticizes 'Boondocks' for showing King saying the n-word

This episode had a great message but all they hear is "nigga":

Sharpton criticizes 'Boondocks' for showing King saying the n-word
NEW YORK (AP) — The Rev. Al Sharpton has asked for an apology from Cartoon Network for an episode of edgy animated series The Boondocks that shows the Rev. Martin Luther King Jr. saying the n-word.

"Cartoon Network must apologize and also commit to pulling episodes that desecrate black historic figures," Sharpton, a civil-rights activist and former Democratic presidential candidate, said in a statement Tuesday.

"We are totally offended by the continuous use of the n-word in (cartoonist Aaron) McGruder's show."

The episode, The Return of the King, aired Jan. 15, the day before the national holiday honoring the slain civil-rights leader. It shows King emerging from a coma and using the n-word in an angry speech venting his frustration toward sexually explicit hip-hop videos, among other things.

In the episode, King is branded a traitor and terrorist sympathizer for his "turn-the-other cheek" philosophy of non-violence in response to post-Sept. 11 retaliation. Exhausted, he moves to Canada, but his speech provokes a second civil-rights revolution.

Cartoon Network released a statement Tuesday saying the episode is a tribute to King and "in no way was meant to offend or 'desecrate'" his name.

"We think Aaron McGruder came up with a thought-provoking way of not only showing Dr. King's bravery but also of reminding us of what he stood and fought for, and why even today, it is important for all of us to remember that and to continue to take action," the statement said.

McGruder, who has been called a "genius" and "the angriest black man in America" as he skewered everything from the Bush White House to Black Entertainment Television, began writing The Boondocks comic strip, on which the TV series is based, in 1997.

The strip, known for its risky political and social satire, follows the adventures of two black children living in a white, middle-class suburb.

Sharpton said he could appreciate McGruder and his achievements, but added: "This particular episode is over the line."

The Boondocks airs Sundays at 11 p.m. ET on Cartoon Network. It is the centerpiece of the Adult Swim late-night block of programming.

bingolong,

Great show, what ya want to bet Rev. Sharpton ends up with his own episode now?

I had to have a sit down with my nine year old and explain some things, he wasn't sayin nothin, just fair warning/preventive maintenance and that only the most ignorant of mfkrs would assume they could say the word...aint nothing more embarrassing than some asshole trying to show how cool he is.

When I was a kid instead of "I love you , you love me" I ran around the house singing "The Cajun Ku Klux Klan"...thanks God, thanks Mr. Pryor.

bingolong,

see this is what upsets me about Sharpton. instead of blasting a CARTOON Network -- key word being CARTOON -- he should start going door to door in Harlem and start complaining about how that community disappeared because of its own people. then keep it moving to the Bronx, Far Rockaway, Newark, NJ Paterson NJ, etc. many there don't even know who King, Rosa, Medgar, Ghandi, or Malcolm was or what they really stood for.

the last remaining survivor of the Tuskeegee Airmen is still in NYC, they don't even care to tap into that knowledge from him. the Harlem Dance Studio fell on hard financial times - no community support. icons (people and places) are slipping away silently.

another perfect example is me moving to the NY area and discovering Malcolm was buried just 10 minutes north of the Bronx. I thought I was the last one to know but found out I was one of few TO KNOW.

I stand by that Boondocks episode, because the same thing Sharpton is complaining about, he's passing right on the streets of NYC.

walking down 125th one day, niggas was just cussing, fighting, conning, etc. while gentrification was happening right under their noses.

one girl was strutting w/a mid-drift semi see-through t-shirt on and skin tight low cut jeans w/the t-shirt in large letters: "I HAVE THE PUSSY - I make the rules" and was cussing up a storm while loudly on her cell and walking w/her equally hoochie-fied friend. and surprisingly this was about normal and the middle of the day. she hopped into a car of some dude she just met. I guess the car fit the rules.

then there was a shooting on the street that same day, over something stupid I'm guessing. a mother w/a baby was shot in the croossfire. and this happened right outside Bill Clinton's office on W. 126th between Sylvia's/Malcolm X and 5th Av. and that was just ONE day alone. Marcus Garvey Park is filled w/drug dealers at night. can't even walk through it after a certain hour. ain't enough room to fill ya in on other days.

niggas are exactly what the Boondocks' King described and someone like King would have to wade through daily.

and Sharpton needs to hang out in Harlem or any urban black neighborhood real quick before he sends another letter of complaint.

not to mention here's someone who speaks highly of Sharpton:
a drug dealer's g/f has info that Sharpton supports her also drug dealing uncle's fake cause -- he's a victim of NYPD racism WHILE SELLING DRUGS openly and bragging about killing off other drug dealings on PUBLIC PHONES which was recorded by the feds. @.@ they have a fake movie out now from hustling many people.

now this same woman helps her drug dealing b/f hustle white women because they stated they are the easiest target to steal from -- her man dates/moves in w/the woman for her money, she pays for his cell while he's out on "his job" (sex to deceive). he brings the money from the white woman home to her so she can buy fake and real designer clothes and ride around in the woman's car with each of their different kids from multiple people. they look down on EDUCATED BLACKS or any blacks doing anything positive, they're considered weak to them. @.@

that alone tells me the finger pointing towards racism here is dead wrong.
