I'm having a hell of a time finding stuff. I know of two open mics that I could get to, but not without some trouble...not to mention they're mostly music type open mics, but are willing to here something else. I know of the comedy clubs on bases, but I'm having another hell of a time trying to get my dad to take me on, as I'm not military, but he works out their and has access. He's not a "do things for others" kinda guy. I've also been instructed to talk to "Leonard" on the radio as he is the stand up guy in the area....unfortunately, he's not on any of the radio stations people tell me he's on...
So, next Thursday, I'll be checking out what will hopefully be my first open mic... I bitched out on the last one (which are once a month at this place), because of the low attendance, the lack of others trying to get on stage, my shitty english skills, the fact that the 3 people there where just high school kids, and, and and....see...I'm making excuses. I'm hoping not to give myself this window of excuses this thursday...

Your Dad sounds like the kind of person who thinks "If someone wants something bad enough, they'll get it themselves" or "The reward of the journey is greater when you find the prize on your own".....or he might be lazy :p
When I was growing up I used a system called "S A B" or simply "Socially Accepted Blackmail".
It's best used in passing conversations like, "Wow Dad, Does Ma know you have one of those?" or "Dad..I have a new friend and he's a policeman so I probably shouldn't tell him about that stuff you have in the closet huh?".

You have it with "lazy." I could get on base myself...just long enough for the mp's to throw me right off again.
That SAB is a good idea, but I don't think Anal Beads will get you arrested...
But I do want it bad enough...I guess I want my first time to be...perfect. STAND UP VIRGIN!
