The First Black President

I know a couple of weeks have passed, yet I cannot shake the speech delivered by Barack Obama, Illinois Senator, at the Democratic National Convention. The man was poingnant and had an aura that seemed almost JFK'esque. No bullshit, passionate, and just flat out real. Just as it seemed there was no credible Black Leadership on the horizon this man looks like he could be the real deal... now if we can only get him to change his name to a nice white one... @.@

Anditsdeeptoo,

I agree with you wholeheartedly. Obama does have presence and gravitas. With the exception of Bill Clinton, his was the best speech during the convention. He actually had something to say. Hopefully, the future will hold great things for him. But look who's opposing him in the Illinois race: Alan Keyes? And he had the nerve to accuse Obama of echoing the sentiments of slaveowners! Talk about hypocrisy! I would love for the US to have a black president, but not at all costs. I'd rather vote for a Kerry than an Alan Keyes or Clarence Thomas any day...it really isn't about color, it's about character...Oh and just wait and see, any day now Keyes will be referring to Barack as Obama bin Barack or something slanderous like that....

mojones,

Honestly, Id rather have a white president with a black vice president, and then go assassinate the president and be the greatest hero in Black history. Ok, maybe I havent thought this out yet...
