CHENEY: NOSTRADAMUS WARNED OF KERRY VICTORY


Could Signal End of World, Says Veep


Vice President Dick Cheney made his most dire remarks to date about a November victory by Democratic nominee John Kerry, saying that the French seer Nostradamus warned that Mr. Kerry's election would signal the end of the world.

"Nostradamus made it quite clear that John Kerry's election would be followed shortly thereafter by the end of the universe," Mr. Cheney soberly informed his audience at an Akron, Ohio rally yesterday. "So if you want the world to end, John Kerry is your man."

Mr. Cheney added that if Mr. Kerry were elected, "Rather than seeing the world come to an end I would put the world out of its misery by destroying it myself."

While Mr. Cheney's warnings about a Kerry win have grown increasingly grim in recent days, his claim that Nostradamus (1503-1566) predicted a Kerry-driven apocalypse was extraordinary, even by the standards of today's heated political rhetoric.

But hours after the vice president issued his latest warning, the Nostradamus prediction was powerfully discredited by a newly-formed political action committee calling itself Renaissance French Seers for Truth.

In an ad broadcast in several battleground states by the well-financed seers' group, little-known French seer Henri de Montrachet (1497-1558) is quoted as saying, "I was a seer alongside Nostradamus, and I can tell you this, Nostradamus is lying about John Kerry."

In other campaign news, the Kerry campaign suffered another setback today when the Federal Election Commission informed Mr. Kerry that he had exceeded the federal campaign limit on boat metaphors.

I think many of the near-truth exadgerations are actually writted by the right. THat way it looks like the left is going overboadr and making things up, which confuses people into overlooking the truly evil things, like what he really said, the lifting of the assault weapons ban, etc.

The whole Nostramous thing is an exaggeration and satire on something he actually said a few days ago, "if you elect Kerry, there will be a terrorist attadk"...

I know... I still think that Bush's people are actually behind stuff like this. I have thought it since the drunk driving report hit right before the election. I had heard a news report about questions regarding his service record, then BAM! The drunk driving story breaks and the questionable service record goes away for a while. Which is a bigger deal to most Americans, one DUI or lying about military service? An old trick is to overshadow one thing, with something else. So how do you cover Cheney saying something like "if you elect Kerry, there will be a terrorist attack and only you will be to blame." You put out exagerations and blame it on the democrats who are out to get you any way they can. You get your legions of people who follow in lock step to claim this shows the dems desperation. Suddenly, you have twisted the vice prez attempting scare tactics into the dems fighting dirty because that's all they have...

Or maybe I'm wrong...

I'm sure this relates somehow...

I was listening to Democracy Now with a guest that had studied the political tactics of Carl Rove over many, many years. His chief way of discrediting his opponant is to attack, not the weakness, but the strength of he opponant. He attacks and leaves no traces of it being connected with him. This has ruined many a career around Carl Rove, because he seems to think you are either with him, or against him.

Kerry's Vietnam record being attacked fit the Rove style to a tee.

So, next time someone who seems to be against the Bush Admin is getting discredited for their strength, watch it. It could be the Rove....

Like I said, I'm sure it relates somehow.

The cool thing is....is there's plenty of time for GWB to screw up.
It seems every day he speaks his mind on the campaign trail he says something that his advisers have to explain to the public the next day.
"The President didn't think what he meant he thought he said."
You know, if someone is guilty of a crime, sometimes they are so concerned about exposing themselves that their thought process give them away.
The police love this kind behaviour.
