I've never heard of this guy untill proably 2 weeks ago when I saw his HBO special 'Black on Broadway.' It's fuckin' hilarious. I literally had tears running down my cheeks. Y'all should check it out. Some funny shit here.
Anyone else hear of this guy.

P.S. When I first saw him perform, I thought it was Robert Klein. How fucked is that??!! Did anyone else mistake him for Klein?

graniteplanet,
just to dignify your question with a response:
yes, chances are everyone on this board has heard of him. He's pretty big in the states. He's had two CC specials (both of which I thought were funnier than his HBO special.) He also has a weekly segment on The Daily Show, and toured last year with dave attell and mitch hedberg. Louis Black is hilarious, and one of the bigger comics in the US.

That Old Hippie Chick,
Even though his segments aren't my favourite element of the Daily Show, I saw Black on Broadway the other day and was very impressed. He gave a really strong performance.

graniteplanet,

Black is cool. Then again, I'm partial to any comedian who complains a lot. Rodney Dangerfield and his bastard child Richard Lewis. Even Dennis Miller, the prodigal comic himself, makes me laugh a lot.

Just curious. What do you think of the Last Standing Comic comedians? Personally, it's hard to judge any comic on 2 minutes. Most stand ups are trying to stretch their bits to eat up more time not less. The format almost handicaps anyone who isn't old school.

That Old Hippie Chick,
   I hear you. Agree totally with your assessment. Last Comic Standing is designed to stress out comics for the amusement of the audience. The fact any of them can deliver a coherent set in that environment is amazing.

I never auditioned for it myself. But a number of my friends did. One buddy, Quint Hatch, actually got the call back. But he was disqualified for insulting Buddy Hackett in the first year. Good thing too. Hackett died months later. My other friend, who shall remaind nameless, made the blooper reel. That was of course, the first season. But he actually claimed to have gotten work from it. So the exposure definitely helps...
