Hey! I just started with stand up, and as far ass i can see gettin material is the hardest part. How do you work to find stuff that will kill an audience. I had a lot phsycic problems and i want to make somethin humoristic out of that. But its hard to find the line where it will be ether embarrazing or funny. When i see live in concert im so impressed with the material.Its seems like richard can twist almost everything and make it funny. I have a notebook wich i write down everything that pops into my mind that i think would be funny. Anybody got any other tips for a starter?

Every tried political comedy? News comedy? Just pick up the paper every day, and write down jokes on the stuff you read...as long as it isnt from the "Funnies"..
This not only provides you with fresh material every day, or so, but sharpens your skills at comedy by being able to take current events and always make them funny, or in some instances, funnier.
