Regardless of Terri's cognitive functioning, bottom line for me is I think only God has the right to decide her fate...and to have deprived her of her feeding tube 3 times already is cruel, barbaric, inhumane and unconscionable...for her and her family as they stand by helplessly.
Her Attorney is said to have told Terri that her life was to be ended and if she was ever gonna speak out, anyway at all, to push with all her might to speak up immediately so it would be clear she was cognizant and chose to live...and her attorney said she yelled "Iiiiiii Waaaaahhh..." and as cops outside her door heard this, they rushed in, effectively ending further communication, claiming Terri was "agitated" or something.
IF Terri was begging for life, how much more of a nightmare this is for her then, as she knowingly faces death...knowing she is wished dead by her husband....
Some people are trying to claim that death by starvation and more accurately, dehydration, is gentle and painless! Give me a fuckin break! It is anything BUT gentle. There is an "Exit Protocol" used in hospice centers, basically legal euthanasia....although in this type scenario, Terri will linger considerably longer and be tormented with agonizing cramps, seizures, cracked skin and tongue, mucus menbranes, organ failure, respiratory failure eventually...I read some reports the Schindler family has published on their website and the words "moratorium of Death" and "Stay of execution" were used...can you believe the unfortunate wording in a case where an innocent woman's life lies in the balance, yet she is regarded with the terminology of a criminal! One doctor had the stupidity, gall, callousness to liken Terri to a "Houseplant" Michael Schiavo has an agenda for certain...
Terri's parents have suffered and sacrificed their lives for Terri...Their family has been through hell...they want the "Right to LIVE" for Terri, while Michael wants "The right to die" for her.
Had Terri been receiving the therapy, tests & meds she could have been receiving, until Michael stopped all of it, she would be eating and drinking on her own...she is able to swallow and had at one time (before Michael put a stop to it) been able to drink shales, eat pudding and jello.
Michael is getting deeper into a web of deceit he has created...his day is coming...
I wonder how his current squeeze feels knowing it could be her or one of their kids lying in that hospice bed, awaiting his decision on her fate?
My heart cries for Terri and her family and I pray that her feeding tube will be reinstated before it is too late for Terri. Last time, she was deprived for 6 days...she is failing more quickly this time and her most recent appeal was refused. Her parents are now taking it to the supreme court.
I believe ALL humans have a soul, God created us...no matter if we're crippled, mentally deficient, have alzheimers, brain injury, retarded...no matter, we are all God's creation,, with a soul, all God's children...and only God has the right to decide if we should live or die.
