Guess Who?

I enjoy going to the movies and waited for this one and it was good. Everybody in the theater laughed. Again I'm not prejudice toward comedy, whether it be a family/kiddie movie, action, dark/black, romance, ect. Or the rating be G, PG, PG-13, PG-13.5, R, X,Y,Z,1,2,3... I usually don't enjoy putting down a movie even if it's the stupidest shit, I like it. Even if I get a little laugh it's all right. I admit I anticapated this movie and I wasn't let down. But that's just me. It cheered me up, I don't judge. It's funny.

SJD,
Wasup man!!Welcome to the site!!!
I saw it liked it but I think I had a little more expectations for it.I guess I wanted Mac and Kutcher to be more over the top(Mac more raw like in "Kings Of Comedy" and Kutcher more goofy "Dude Where's My Car") I guess I just watch too much "Sanford & Son" and "The Jeffersons" but for what it was it was a great movie.I guess I was making my judgement based on the people involved and not by the context of the story.......Hell I don't know.... b.b

bingolong,
Hey Man, how's it going? I agree with you on Bernie Mac being more rowdier and Ashton Kutcher to be more physically crazy, but it's all right and trust me when I say I ain't prejudice toward comedies because. I would like to take back what I said before and say I never feel a movie is ever shit. I actually can't see a movie being total shit until somebody or everybody starts saying it is, and start pointing out the "flaws" that they see, then I start somewhat going with them, and it just fucks up everything. That's why I don't really listen to critics or anybody until I see it for myself, and like I said before again I can't put any comedies down. I'll give it a "10"," 5 Stars, no wait INFINITY, no it never stops, no wait it doesn't start at all, it's just there." I don't let any body try to convert me to their prefrences. I like What I like.

I would like to say more but it is 10:52 in the AM Reservtion Time, and I have to go to my fourth hour welding class now before I'm late for class. So I shall leave with this...

It is, as they say, all good!!! PEACE OUT!!! 8-O

bingolong,

I agree with you. Its was okay. But not what I expected. I thought Mac would employ his "Bernie Mac" stage persona. Instead, he was rather reserved. Was okay...

mojones,
Exactly it was a waste of the talents potential.Don't get me wrong it was good and had it's moments of redemption but because of the talent involved I was expecting so much more comedy.I think if it had been cast with different actors for the way the material played I wouldn't have been as let down.Or at least I couldve watched the movie without waiting for Mac to go ahead and let loose and got more into the story better.Actually I think the drama saved it more than the comedy.Maybe if Denzel and Colin Farrel had been cast.......

bingolong, I haven't see it yet, but from the trailers and the title.Isn't this a re-make of 'GUESS WHO'S COMING TO DINNER ' 1967 drama ,which starred Sidney Poitier,Spencer Tracy and Katherine Hepburn. But this is redone as a comedy ???

bcddjjsc690,

If you know the film [/i]Guess Who's Coming to Dinner?[/i] is, you might not have even bothered seeing this film. I'm not bothering with it...

bcddjjsc690,
Yeah it's a remake but I think JTF has a good point. This movie has a real topic like the original. The original was great for it's time and this one had the opportunity to have some of the same things with social relevence.

bingolong, well one thing that as definitely changed in last decade or so ..they got the White Dude chasing that Black Booty.....a big switcharoo on the biggest fear of white America ..since Boxer Jack Johnson....their daughter dating a black man...as the dilema in the original .I been there...
I know , "Hello Mr. Smith, nice to meet you" and after the clammy handshake Mr.Smith heads right for his easy chair,
And tells his wife "Honey make me a Scotch....and make it a double"! B-)
