bcddjjsc690, haha, i hadn't seen the movie either, for me it wasn't so much a issue as a woman boxer dying, but a boxer dying period..as a life long fight fan, it makes me question myself

Murphdogg, I remember watching the the Mancini fight years ago,it was on CBS in CT. and Tim Ryan was doing the call.
Duk Koo Kim had a straight left jab , and had been scoring well with it all fight, Mancini's face was badly bruised, and in no way was it a loopsided affair..I'd say it was even right up to point when the Korean got caught with a 3 punch combo that ended the fight ..and sadly he died
5 days later .I think most fights were still 15 rounds then,{this one was stopped in the 14th }, so it an effort for safety fights were reduced to 10 -12 rounds. But fighters do so at there own free will, if a fighter dies/or get badly injured due to negligence on the refs part , that's the worst . If you tried to outlaw boxing . it would only result in the sport continuing underground, and the fighters would be getting arrested and hurt badly more often.
