Allow me to say goodbye to a great guy...

Jeff Gilstrap the owner of Comedy off Broadway in Lexington passed away.
Jeff was the first owner/manager/booker to ever believe in me and he fought for me as well.
If there are any comics here that ever worked for Jeff, I'm sure you will agree not too many club owners were ever as nice or loved comedy as much.
A spin on Hedbergs words...
Jeff got into comedy to be IN comedy. He didn't do it to get rich. It was never a business, it was his passion.
I haven't cried this much since my mom died... I'll miss you Jeff.

Anditsdeeptoo,
Thanks, but comedy lost a good one. He bought in George Wallace, Carlin, Tommy Chong took a huge loss, because he had a smaller room 250 seats, but he loved those guys and knew it would be a treat for his regulars. Not too many club owners willing to take a hit, for the sake of 250 people a show to get a chance to see their comedy idols live.
He told me once...
"Rob, I would love to clear 10 grand every week. But I don't mind a loss when I see these folks leaving my club still laughing and feeling they got their money's worth. Trust me by doing this, they'll come back in the future, even if I had YOU headline."
Asshole... and say that with love.
