A career as a comic after 40

Hello people. I met a guy recently who wants to become a comedian. He has always been funny but I wonder if starting a career after 40 as a comic is a good idea. People like Richard Pryor and Eddie Murphy had to pay their dues and I am not sure if this is a wise decision on his part. I worry about him because he has been to lots of auditions and has even gotten some work but a career as a comic after 40...well unless you guys have a different opinion, I just don,t see it.

JTF,

I beat you all. I was talking with another comic who's been doing it for four years. His age? 77.

Yeah...it's just not right that a man that age is using hack 69 jokes....

Murphdogg,
Hey thanks to you and all those people who replied to me concerning what I thought was a serious subject. Since I don,t want to be a dream stealer, I will give all of your responses serious thought. I really like this guy and want the best for him. Once again....thanks everybody.
