Farewell Barney

I gotta say that Don Knotts was definately one of the masters. This guy could do more with a facial expression than most comics can do with words. (ex. It's a mad, mad, mad, mad world. The scene with Phil Silvers) And the obvious Andy griffith show. To me he was one of a long list of tv and movie comics that could do more than one kind of comedy and do them all well. Thankfully I have dvds to keep him alive on my tv. Another master gone but not forgotten.

There once was deputy named Fife,
who carried and gun and a knife.
The gun was all dusty and the knife was all rusty and he never caught a crook in his life.

classic

chelcie3,

I loved this guy. Definitely a classic. Everybody tries to imitate him at one time or another. "These hands are certified lethal weapons." "Nip in the bud, Andy!" "Welcome to the Rock!" When he left that show, there was no show...

Truly. As far as tv characters go, Barney Fife was one of the greatest. I think that is a comedian or an actors greatest achievement: to create a body of work or a character that endures forever. Much like Mr P's artistic legacy, Mr K struck gold.
