JUST LIKE DADDY

Now my daddy wasn't their but he wanted to be,
And I can't take that for granted that's a blessing to me.
Okay, looking back on it I know he had some regrets,
He tried to get back with my mama but she wasn't having it!!!
Sometimes I sit and think what made him drink so much?
What made him run out in them streets and get tore' up?
Too many tough breaks,heartbreaks,and setbacks,
Too much lost time that you can't get back.
But if you ever got to know him then you'd see me man.
Turned me on to "Sanford and Son" before TV Land!!
Before Outkast and them there was Sly and the Fam,
Daddy was a Last Poets, Jimi Hendrix fan!!!
The man was quick to pop open a beer then make it crystal clear,
That anybody trying to front him then they "Outta Here!!!"
Lord you took him after 44 years',
I would put him in my prayers but he's already their.......
....and I miss him.....
