tonight I worked a comedy club where I've never really really killed, I'm always uptight and watching what I say and pulling my punches and not riffing because the owner likes set up punch Seinfield like comedy. tonight I decided I'd be myself and just riff and have fun. and I killed mostly by riffing with lil material like I was doing one of my ghetto shows..but it turns out I cuss alot in my normal tone of convo, even though my jokes don't have a cuss word in the punch. My question is, is the tendancy for most clubs nowadays to not like cussing cultural bias? people from the wrong side of the tracks can't be theirselves. Don't get wrong, I can do a clean set, and I believe comedy clubs have the right to make any rules they want if they are paying you. But is a cultural bias? it seems like nowadays they are looking for suburan like comics, and don't like people who grew up on the street.

Im not sure about the Bias thing but what I believe is dont let anyone change how you are, find clubs that will allow freedom of speech and allow you to be yourself, I personaly thing the cussing is not bad... I think about the great such as or Beloved Richard, Eddie, and one of my Favs Monique .. these guys set the bar high and they didnt turn from what they were comfy with and who they are I say fuck em if they dont like you...and im assume if you killed at the show then no one in the "White area" was offended by your words Censors should be banned i say ... go out there and speak the truth be your self and youll go far... I never did get Sinfeld truthfully i found him dull and annoing... Robin Williams on the other hand cracks me up and gets me to rolling on the floor...Im white but didnt realy grow up in the white areas so to say and i tell you if i had to choose between watching Richard Pryor on sunset strip.. or say some mormon stand up comic thats all clean and P.C. i say Bring on the Fucking King Richard.. i wanna hear about real life not fantacy!

translation to get some points shaved off my basket to hell ride: just be yourself. struggling to change in middle of an open set would be a headache I would think. and you're not letting loose, and letting the show flow at uncensored comedy houses. just my 2 cents.

Rich paid the price and put in his time and became a headliner and said anything he wanted to and changed the game. One day I hope I'll move up the ladder and get to say whatever i want when i want. Intill then I'll have to play by the rules of whoever pays me I recon.
