The "So Emotional" singer has filed for divorce from her husband of 14 years, her rep, Nancy Seltzer, confirmed to E! News.


Seltzer declined to go into details on the split, not even saying where the petition was filed (the couple reside in Georgia but also have a home in New Jersey) or whether Houston would seek sole custody of the couple's 13-year-old daughter, Bobbi Kristina.

It's certainly not the first bump in the road for Brown, 37, and Houston, 43--their tumultuous union has been well chronicled both in the press and on camera.

In December 2003, police were called to the couple's Georgia home after Brown allegedly struck Houston during a heated argument.

Though the twosome tried to handle the matter privately, Brown was ordered to stand trial for battery.

In January, published reports claimed that the couple were on the verge of divorce, which Brown emphatically denied.

"We're here and we're gonna be together for a long time, so people can expect us to stay together," the R&B singer told People magazine at the time. "I'm with my wife for the duration--and that's life."

Apparently, life's about to change.

I know, it's funny because when you first heard they were getting married, you were probably as shocked as me, like "WHAT?! stop playing"

then after their wild court-escapades (esp. the bringing pot back from Hawaii, as in you mean to tell me you couldn't find a dealer in Newark, or was the shit THAT good?!), you began to think, "well, damn they must be meant for each other." because they were both doing some stupid stuff.

THEN after you realize how long they've actually been together and it's been longer than most marriages. shoot, Britney Spears will probably be married 6-10 times in the same amount of time Whitney and Bobby have been together.

I know, that show was wild. and I found out way more than I needed to know of Whitney. and Bobby seemed like the normal one for a minute that camping episode! "oh my goodness" is all I can say about that one.

but someone just said they can't just go out like that. Whitney has to fight the other woman after all she's been through w/Bobby

oh man, you knew they were coming, comedians are having a field day w/this news. Craig Ferguson said man, that's gonna be an ugly custody battle over the crack pipe!

Davis and Love Stage Intervention To Help Houston


Music mogul Clive Davis was so upset by pal Whitney Houston's decline into a drug hell, he called on rocker Courtney Love to mentor the troubled soul star, according to US reports. Love, who has gone through her own drug abuse problems and now insists she's clean and sober, jumped at the chance to help another struggling star and agreed to stage an intervention with Davis. According to the new issue of America's Us Weekly magazine, Love and Houston have become unlikely friends and former Hole star Love has turned Houston onto her own addiction counselor Warren Boyd. The publication claims Davis, who discovered Houston, is paying for her expensive counseling sessions.
