Andre 3000 of OutKsast in in the works to make his big film acting debut as none other than The legendary, Imortal James Marshal Hendrix. I think that Andre is a brilliant musiscian, But I can't imagine anyone playing Jimi. Just like I could'nt imagine that there was anyone who could play jazz veteran Billie Holiday... including Diana Ross, but she nailed it in every possible way. Lady Sings the Blues is an amazing film. Could Andre 3000, possibly give an equally impessive perfomance? @.@
Tifah, P. S. I am a member already. :-x

Tifah,
Showtime already tried to catch Jimi's life on film and failed horribly. The story was not correct as history has it (if even that's correct) and the performance sequences was laughable at best. As long as it's done with love for the man and his music and not just because another rapper wants a touch of that hollywood gold... ]:o(

Yeah, that's a helluva jump from playing cameos to a lead in a biopic. He may pull it off though. He's just different enough and that I like about him. Hope they get a director who gives a damn. It won't work any other way.

Examples:
Oliver Stone, The Doors
Spike Lee, Malcolm X

If the guy chosen can make HALF the film Oliver Stone made on Jim Morrison, he'll be alright. That was an awesome achievement cinematically.

I heard one is coming on Janis Joplin also soon with singer Pink in the lead role.....we'll see.

The one I really want to see...actually, the one I really want to direct, is on Marvin Gaye. I am such a fan of his music and life. Him and Mr. P run about neck and neck in my book. Which brings to mind....there's a scene in JoJo Dancer where Mr. P is walking down the street thinking of where his life is headed and "What's Going On" is playing over it. It's one of the best montages ever in cinema for me. Pure magic! Two legends on screen doing their thing.
You see Mr. P doing his stand-up as it evolves and we hear Marvin in the background. Simply brilliant! :)

Tifah,

I'm nervous to see Andre's acting prowess. I just can't visualize a strong performance coming from him. I know he'a a charismatic guy and a hell of a performer, I just wonder how he will handle dialogue. It's going to take a great script, a great director, and a great performance to make the movie work.

Tifah,
I think 3000 might be able to pull it off. You wanna talk odd casting? Swear to mother mary, I heard this from a real entertainment news source (can't recall which one; but I think Stern talked about it too so maybe some of you all heard). Some studio was (or maybe still IS) talking about making a new Malcolm X Bio pic. Who will play Mr. X you ask? Get Ready for this:
Steven FUCKING Segal!!!
No foolin, bitches!

I think 3000 has studied hendrix enough to where he might be able to pull it off. He's a very talented artist, and he does resemble him a little too. He's one of the greatest artist out in our times in my opinion. I wish him the best. we'll see
