Crisis or Gouging?

When I was sixteen years old or so,I worked in a Shell gas station and the first oil crisis occured.
Remember the gas shortage around that time?
When it started, gas was about 40 cents a gallon and it went up to $1.39.When the crisis was over and the gas was flowing freely again the price dropped all the way down to 79 cents, or an increase of 100 percent.
That same year newspapers all had the same headline "Big oil companies recorded record profits this year."
What do you think the profits will be this year?

bingolong,

I used to have a 77 ElDorado. 10 mpg on the highway. I'd fill her up in Jersey back when gas was 90 cents a gallon there (and $1.20 in NY) It cost $30 to fill it then, twice a week! THe Brakes went along with everything else except that motoe. I junked it for $50.

Now, I pay nothing...

JTF,
Oh you're paying because eveything we buy that gets here by truck, plane, or boat is going up in price.
Fruit, vegtables, milk, bread, everything.
