I was reading an article on the new issue of www.twodrinkminimum.com, and there's a story on Freddie Prinze. The way the guy wrote about him you'd think he was one of the all time ledgends. Anyone know anything about him? Perhaps where I can get a tape of his stand-up? It mentioned an album - so I'm sure they put it on CD if he was popular.

BTW - The writer said he hung a bit with Mr. Pryor, any truth to that?

Sunset,
George Lopez just mentioned Freddie Prinze in his stand-up.Lopez along with Prinze, and Desi Arnaz are of the few latinos to hold a network show.Freddie Prinze had a show back in the mid 70's called "Chico and the Man" that was a big hit before his death.b.b

When I first saw this post I thought you were talking about his son Freddie Prinze Jr......the movie "Scooby Doo" is just going off..... @.@

Sunset,

And from what I've read, Freddie absolutely idolized Richard.

bingolong,

I saw an interview with Junior where he was asked about going into the acting biz and the expectations that would be placed on him. He replied, stone faced "My father is not my favorite subject."

JTF,
Was this recently or before he became an actor? I know a few months ago George Lopez presented Prinze Jr . with an award on behalf of his father,I think at the TV Land Awards. @.@

bingolong,

it was a couple of years ago, after he had made it big. the interviewer apologized, then explained what he meant about how difficult it is for the children of actors to emerge from their parents shadow and establish themselves. Junior answered without really talking about his pop. You really can't blame him. Talk about abandonment issues...

JTF,
Yeah from what I remember it seemed like he was having a hard time with his speech at those awards.I think he grew up somewhere like New Mexico and had a hard time of it. b.b :(

bingolong,

being a junior didn't help matters any. if his name was Joey Prinze he would never have heard "Like the guy from Chico & The Man who blew his brains out?" it can't help when throughout your life, any time you introduce yourself people remind you of the father you never met's stupid death.
