Hello Northern Ireland,

I'm a stand up comedian living in NYC. Mr. Pryor is my biggest influence hands down & Bill Hicks is my second so knowing that you are also impressed by both artists tells me that you know what stand up comedy SHOULD BE which already puts you at a huge advantage.

People who consider jokes about bad airline food as comedy actually scare me when they say they want to try being a comedian 8-o

You on the other hand already have an ear for what TRUE Stand Up IS so I say GO FOR IT and don't get discouraged if you "Crash & Burn" Keep at it!

Mr. Pryor & Bill Hicks make it look SO easy but it took years and years of practice and huge amount of unique God given talent for them to make it look that way...just be patient.

Visitor,

You will never know unless you try. Even if you "crash and burn", at least you know that you had the balls to do it. Shit, I'll try anything once, twice if I like it. So get yor ass up there and just do it. That's what everybody else had to do their first time, even Richard.

Im from Northern ireland, im a 23yr old male and i desperately want to try stand-up comedy. I fuckin love Bill Hicks and Richard Pryor - you can't watch and listen to these guys without wanting to give it a go. I was at a comedy club last nite and i watched two guys crash and burn. they were really bad i was thinkin i could do better than that. But they were up there doing it and i haven't even begun. I would love some tips especially about just starting out. Can anyone help? :p :p
