The Ashlee Simpson(gate) issue will not end the world. But I think it does say something about TV culture today. A program that has been around since 1975 and celebrated for it live performances (except when they had the 7 second delay for Richard Pryor's guest host appearence) is now accepting a lip sync performance. How many of the past musical performers have faked it? And doesn't this say something about the American culture we live in today? Short cuts, cheating, lying, cover-ups....

Man, I never thought I'd be taking up for this Simpson chick. But I say cut her some slack. She's still basically a kid. Yeah, it was a big sham and she's a minimal talent at best. But do you really expect her to be honest about it? If someone is going to pay me to lip sync, damn it I'll do it! The only reason why I haven't sold out is because nobody is willing to buy what I'm selling..
