Uptown Comedy Club

Post by LKizzle »

What's up Richard fans,

Does anyone remember the sketch comedy series, Uptown Comedy Club. It came on in the early 90's during the Black Comedy Explosion. I can't remember any of the sketches, but for reason, I remember the theme song perfectly. Can anybody help, I looked all over the net, and came across no info.

LKizzle,
I think they ended each show with a "snaps" competition. "Talent" use to murder 'em.
Now that Johnnie's gone, I guess I should start being nice to the cops.

LKizzle,
"Snaps" are 'yo mama' jokes... your breath is so bad... stuff like that.
I don't think any skits on that show can be considered "famous". I use to catch the show at 3 o'clock in morning on WGN. I was in college and usually drunk or high too.

robfharris,

So the "Snaps" or sort of like the "Dirty Dozens" skits from In Living Color.

LKizzle,
This was kind of different, but it was brilliant. Some of the regulars on the show and whatever guest comics they had on the show, would meet up and have kind of a "snaps" tournament. It would start off with the entire group and dwindle down to the last two. The last two would get about 2-3 times to "snap" off on each other. A couple of the guys involved made a little extra money off it. They published a couple of books "Snaps", I know they released a second one, not sure if any others were published.
