Prankenstein,

Yeah he earned the right to do that, but he has moved from a hilarious man with incredible perspective and poignant takes on the world, to a surly curmudgeon. Both have their place and he has earned the right to do whatever he wants, I just preferred Carlin when he was a social satyrtist and not a grumpy old man on a soap box. His act hasn't changed from a topical stand point but his approach certainly has.

bcddjjsc690,

I guess the key is to not be "preachy" up there, especially as a new comic. Audiences trust Carlin and Pryor and Rock, you have to prove your honesty is important to them.

Well, did my first spot last night and after an initial fumble (mind went blank, could feel the embarrassed cringing in the room) it all went really well. My 'honest' bit went down the best of all getting not only the biggest laugh but a fairly hefty applause, so I think I know where my routine is now heading. My favourite gag died on its arse though which I'm a bit pissed about, especially because I closed with it, but fuck em.

Bring on the next one.

talk about honesty..I did a lil open mic last night, where the bar was so rude, they paid NO attention to any of the comics..after I attacked them for 10 mins on the mic..one of the girls at the bar tried to get the guys with her to fight me outside while I was outside smoking..I was so proud

doley,

Congtratulations on your first time out! No matter how I feel my set was; whether it sucked the big one, was okay, good or hilarious. I always want to "bring on the next one."

Peace B-)

bcddjjsc690,
I don't want to talk Royals. So many comedians over here are hitting that shit and so many audience members couldn't give a rat's ass. I've seen too many Camilla jokes die this past couple of months. Aside from a minority group of harcore wackos most Brits are bored to tears by sovereign shenanigins. I'll lay out the bit for you below. To give it context I do a bit about shit clothes and a bit about second-hand clothes and then the bit.

Thanks for the congrats folks, and the honesty contributions.

Favourite bit:
My favorite thing about clothes is pockets. Without them where would I keep all my shit?
you ever have clothes where every pocket has a hole in it? you can't leave the house. I had that recently, pockets full of holes, couldn't carry anything. but i was smart about it. what I did was, I got a knife and cut pockets into my legs. Brilliant, permanent solution, I thought. No, I was wrong. What happened was they healed over and now I cant get my change out. there's 4.80 in there thats almost a pack of cigarettes. My mobile keeps ringing I can't answer it. I'm locked out of my house. And I can't even sit down because I put the keys in the back pocket.

doley, well......you had a decent premise with the clothes and pockets...but [/i]honestly[/i] your solution of cutting pockets into your legs ,is to say the least ridiculous...rework that solution into something more people can relate to and you might be able to save this bit.....

My asking for jokes on royals WAS a joke.

Nobody on this side of the pond could give less than a shit.
