I totally agree with you. I thought the same thing.
...then I took it to a conspiracy theory level about how it would have been possible for bush and his posse to have somehow been behind it. You can not go with this theory, and that's cool, because I'm not sure if I'm fully behind it. But it's a theory, it's been voiced. And if some memos that come out five years down the road say it was true, than I was justified. If not, well, that's cool, then I'd rather be cynical than a realist. Stranger things have happened in the last few years...
But reguardless, Bush's approval rate will start climbing again as will Tony Blair's. And this will also probably help raise the War approval rating in the UK, something that has been difficult to do since this whole mess started.
This sort of thing is too convenient for those purposes.
But reguardless, I applaud the British for handling the situation as they did. They got back to work and didn't try to grab more sympathy than necessary from the world community and in the end, I feel this is the way to do it. It'll show whoever it is in charge of these terrorist acts that nothing will phase the British. And that's why I love 'em!
