tamra,

I love Fantasia's voice too. But the sister needs a weave -- a wig or something! I'm not a stickler for long hair. But a little bit more wouldn't hurt her! But on to contests.

We had our annual Houston's Funniest Person Contest last month which recently ended this past week. Remembered I was raving about Danny Rios? Well, he won! I just knew they were going to cheat him out of it. But they didn't! Danny won fair and square! I know most contests are rigged, but Rios got what he deserved.

I didn't even see him win last week, but I did see his initial set of the contest. Going by that alone, I thought he had it in the bag. Surprisingly, the judges agreed with me! Way to go, Danny. I know you lurk around this board alot. By the way, I'm heading to Los Angeles this week. Anybody know the directions to Richard Pryor's star on the walk of fame? Address should be enough...

Son of the Circus,

It's rigged as far as who gets on the show. You've basically gotta know someone and you've got to be invited. I knew way too many people who tried out and only one actually made it.

But as far as who wins... not as rigged. My boy, Ty Barnett is on there. They had predictions, and shecky mag told us who made it to the top five, but the producers have extended the filming of it a few extra weeks, because it's been getting higher ratings.

So, it's all up in the air.

(go ty!)

Later,
Jane

Murphdogg,

Being busy, that's what! I still read stuff daily, but I've been down on net stuff lately.

Also, started my own room stumbling distance from my house, so that's gonna keep me busy, ya know?

astonomous,

Yeah, he's really funny and a nice guy to boot!

(so everyone vote for him live...) ;p

deepseas,

Thank you much. Would you believe I'm actually nervous about going there? Weird, huh? But I am. Oh yeah and Ty Barnett is a great dude. He's one of the most likable guys working today. It comes through in his comedy too.

WOW. I actually caught Ty Barnett's act on that show yesterday. it was painful waiting for it.

some comedians are like horror movies, I can predict the next line of joke, or next set of jokes.

but Ty was hi-friggin-larious  I loved his after sex commentary bit, and the opening church bit had me ROFL and caught me by surprise.

if he don't win, America is on crack and likes corny shit, or the show is rigged. 8-o because the rest of acts I was sitting there blank faced.

tamra,

I love that joke! he was dropping it up here at the club, and he was asking people,"Do you think it's clean enough for tv?!"

That joke is awesome!

jane_haze,

well the TV audience was in hysterics for each and everyone of his jokes. plus the show airs after 9pm/8pm anyway.

for the other acts, it was just spotty, ho-hum laughter. so Ty should win. unless it really is up to call-in viewers who would all have to be confused to vote otherwise.

but I don't believe that call-in thing to pick winner. I gotta see it to believe it, yanno.

tamra,

From what I hear, it really is up to call in voting!

Though, the laughter is up to the magic of editing. When Kristen Key was doing the roast thing, she was funny. Damn good, as I was talking to a guy who was there -- but on tv, it sounded like a dead audience. That was no good.

Besides, they're gonna try to get the guy that's funny and they can market the best... that's showbiz!*

jane_haze,

well, dayum I should have watched rest of show for voting info to call. if he made it thru to next week, I will definitely vote. that way I can't complain if the right comic doesn't win. :)
