Re: The Progressive Party
Jennifer,
Um... The last one on your list? You need to go for the woman bashing, mother hating, baggy pants suburb wanna-be-tough type?

Re: The Progressive Party
dumbass,
The problem, as I see it, is that the office of the presidency has become much too powerful. The reasoning behind having three branches of government was to provide a balance so we would never end up like England with King George (unintentional similarity.)
The power of instantanious media has made the presidency stand out so greatly that the other two branches are practically unknown to many Americans. How many can name all of the Supreme Court Justices? How about how many there are? Or who their Senators are? Or their Representative? Instead of making the public more informed, the television has really dumbed it down. The credit and blame all falls now on one man: The President.
At one point in time you could actually go to your Congressman, Senator, or even President and bitch at him directly. Now you're lucky to get a form letter thanking you for your support from even a city counilman. The whole system needs a review and overhaul to once again balance the power.
On a side note... If the electoral college had tied at 269, the election would have gone to the House, which would have selected Bush. This should change to the popular vote being the tie-breaker. It wouldn't matter much, but it would add to the adage that "every vote counts."

Re: The Progressive Party
Jennifer and Bingo,
Remember this one:
And as for anyone wanting to just turn their backs and leave this great and mighty nation in times of trouble because of the views and policies of the current administration then get going already. I don't see anyone holding you back. I, myself, will be staying and sticking out the fight.
I keep hearing people say that, I'm sure mostly out of frustration, hurt and anger, and they never leave and it just adds to the Republican mantra of the Democratic flip-flop. I'm going. I'm staying. That's it, I'm leaving. I guess I'll stay, and so on. You're going to need to stay and live to fight another day. That's exactly what the Republicans would be thinking, and saying, if they'd tasted defeat this time around, and they were thinking that way the day after their guy won and was elected President the last time around, busy as beavers preparing for 4 years from then, which culminated into just a few days ago on November 2nd, 2004. In fact, right now they have an enormous army working on an election day victory in 2008 as I type this. Do you get it?

He would have loved to pass the problem along.

Re: The Progressive Party
bingolong,
I'm doing fine man. How about yourself? We pulled Washington State to a victory and the country spoke loud and clear, unfortunately just not in the numbers needed for a defeat. But it sure was close in the end...
It looks as though Bush won it all fair-and-square this time around, unlike in 2000, and that's just how it is for the next four years. Nobody can really argue that that I can see. Everybody just needs to be there for the battle, that should have officially started yesterday at the latest, in 2006 for the open seats and most surely in 2008 for the White House.
