Laver,
unless the speed has been changed, this Mp3 doesn't sound like Richard's voice......but that's just my opinion..
http://www.beastieboysremixes.com/mashedpotato.mp3 - Is this Pichard Pryor ???'
Let your ears be the judge...

bcddjjsc690,
Thanks for the input. Personally I never thought it sounded like Richard...but I know he can "do" different voices so the hunt continues to go on.

You've never heard of sampling Richard?
listen to NWAs albums
you can hear some samples of Richard Pyror in their songs.
From NWA - Appetite for Destruction:
'cops put a hurtin on yo ass man, u kno, they really degrade u, white folks dont belive that shit dont belive that cops degrade u, oh come on those beatings those people were resisting arrest'

Laver,
Sounds like it could be Redd Foxx....

bingolong, that's the only person I could name,I thought it resembled myself ,but the voice is too young and isn't gravely enough , for me to say it sounds EXACTLY like Redd..but there are lots of similarities..
I think it sounds a little like...Actor Tim Moore aka The Kingfish from Amos & Andy TV show..but I doubt he said that line anywhere,He certainly didn't say it on that show...(Tim Moore died-1958)

bingolong,
Some folks in the Beastie fan community were claiming it was Redd because on a particular album there is a track titled "mashed potatoes"...I invested in the cd but the sample in question is not on the "mashed potatoes" track.
In my opinion it doesn't sound like Redd Foxx or Robin Harris. I've contact the folks at Rudy Ray Moore's website and they claim it's not him either.
So it remains a mystery.

Laver,
You know it also sounds like this guy that was on Laff records when I had the Craps on LP. On one side it was Craps and on the other side it was a guy that sounded like Redd in his joke style.Must have been a misprint....
But what I am hearing in this snippet is the way the guy ends his phrases sounds like Redd and the music in the background sounds like some of his stuff too. You know he Beasties might have even pitched it down to make him sound deeper but I don't know.......

bingolong,
Thanks for the info. Do you know who the other guy was on Laff?
Anything's possible but my gut tells me the Beasties didn't tweek the audio.
