Hey Guys,

I saw the thread and I couldn't resist posting. I loved Hicks. I toured with him and Sam Kinison in 89 & 90, and as a young comic I learned so much by watching them.

I wrote an article about the passing of Hicks for Uproar (www.uproarmagazine.com) it's in issue number 6.

If you've never seen Hicks, do yourself a favor and get your hands on anything by him. All too often comics don't look at the people who set the bar before them. Study comedy, it's more important then you know.

I was a bit bummed when I saw that comedycentral didn't honor him in any way last month...there no such thing as the greatest comic, but he's among them. too bad we don't have a bill hicks today, we really need someone like that now...

Bill Hicks was like Lenny Bruce they were both way ahead of there time. What would Hicks have to say about everything going on today? would I give to hear him rant about Gorge "W"

You can't help but to feel cheated.

If it wasent for Lenny Bruce we'd all be telling jokes about why animals ponder crossing the street and the weather.

Amaze,

There's lots of books on Lenny, but a good starter book is "Rebel Comedians." It just came out and covers a lot of the mid-50's through mid 60's comedians. The chapter on Lenny covers both his life and his creative chapter.

Amaze,

Also, if you're going to pick up one of his CD's, let me suggest "Lenny Bruce at Carnagie Hall" it's Lenny at his best.
