smjmcomic,

Agreed, but unfortunately not enough people know his work, only his legend. Comics should take the time and hear him - really hear him. It's so rare that comedy is used to send a message.

Jim Mendrinos,

Jim I agree 100%. I myself have not heard enough of Lenny's material to make an honest, contributing post under this forum which is exactly why I haven't. I did see the movie "Lenny" starring Dustin Hoffman however I found it to be VERY disappointing. All it did was highlight his drug addiction and run ins with the law! It barely touched on his material!
As soon as my finances allow it, I'm going to buy the Green Album Mr. P referred to at the beginning of this forum and hopefully some others so I can learn from the man who opened the door for us all ;) I don't think I'll truly be a comedian until I do...LOL
Rest In Peace Lenny B-)

SweetLuchia,

As a working comic you should check out his stuff. Like I said before if it wasent for Lenny we'd all still be telling jokes about anmials crossing the street and the weather.

Gorge Carlin reminds me of Lenny Bruce's style, Lenny had a part in Gorge sheding the sutes and ties for long hair and tee shirts. Both great comics who have given alot to the art.

SweetLuchia,

There are so many good LB albums - the Sick Humor of Lenny Bruce (The Green Album), Live at Berkley, etc., However for my money I'd go with Live at carnegie hall

SweetLuchia,

Also, trying to get Bruce by watching Lenny is like trying to hear the best of Pryor by watching Comic View. Sure the bits are there, but the performers are killing the art!

Hey Rich, what would be the easiest way to get his album,cd dvd, tape or whatever I have heard of him before, and am anxious about hearing him bust or watch one of his tapes.

My 2 cents:
Lenny Bruce's Togetherness is the best one. It's on the Same CD as Sick Humor so you can't lose. Non Skeddo Airlines: "A man blew up a plane with 40 people and his mother. For this the state sent him to the electric chair. Which proves that...Americans are losing their sense of humor.":) What would this guy have the balls to say about Al-Queda?

I hate to be the nerd in the board, but since yo'all asked, surf George Carlin's Laugh.com Incredible reissues of classic comedy. Also Amazon.com The Rhino and Vestron editions of the Lenny Bruce Performance Film include the Thank You Mask Man cartoon. B-)
