When my Grandfather died December 19th 1992 and then they found (his son)my father dead the next year December 24th 1993....I'm "bingolong;p" the III so I was pretty sure my ass would be grass by the end of December 1994....but I guess it wasn't meant to be......

I can't think of mine right now, but last year I got my 11 year-old daughter a saxophone.

She wanted one bad. I ordered it on eBay and had it shipped to my mother's place. It came while my daughter was therre with me so I told her that I ordered a gift for her aunt and had it sent there (it was true, I just neglected to tell her that that box wasn't it.) She asked what it was, I said a surprise. I then even had her help me wrap it! I put her name on it when she wasn't looking, then when she went to give it to her aunt on Christmas she saw her name and was puzzled "Hey, this has my name on it." I told her to open it. She screamed!

As a dad, I pretty much suck. I made up for a lot with that one!

I still have no clue what to get her. It sucks that her birthday is a week before Christmas. You run outta ideas. I just sent her a $50 Toys R Us gift card for her birthday. Now what the hell do you buy for a spoiled-rotten 12 year old?

Damn. Sorry to hear that #3. My kid was born the day before your gramps died. My pops died July 18, 1994. He was 58. My grandfather died when he was 57, and when he was 56, my pops told me how scared he was of dying at 57. He had his 1st heart attack at 57, and was dead a year later.

I hope to follow your lead and not continue the trend. I want to live a hell of a lot longer than 59!
