Anyway, after the open mic was over, I was talking with a comic, Duane Goad, who just hangs out at the club and doesn't perform on these nights. He said that back in '98, he went to the Comedy Store in L.A. and Mitzi said she'd give him 5 minutes...right after Eddie Griffin. Griffen turned his 30 minutes into an hour and a half. Got off stage and acted like a total ass, hot shot.
Duane said, he got news that he was bumped by other comedians. He was bummed. Then they came over the mic and said, "Ladies and Gentlemen, a special guest...Mr. Richard Pryor!" I got chills. The Man did an awesome set, people banging the tables, just roaring! Then Mr. Goad looked over at Eddie Griffin, just diffident, and it became a total turn around from how he was acting after he got off. Sucks to see the guy you steal your material from on RIGHT AFTER YOU!!!!
