Hey all you comics out there,
Here is another reaching for advice on stand-up question. How do you keep up with your material? Computer, print outs, notebooks? I'm at the point where I've got about 3 years worth of writing, and I'm trying to find a reliable way of organizing it.
Any tips on how you do it? Three years is nothing compared to twenty and beyond, but I'd like to get it going right.
I'm doing a good job of woodshedding and other preperatory stand-up things...it's just that blasted performing that I need to do!
Jane.

Re: Material Organization
jane_haze,
I have heard this question before and I will tell you what I told the other guy. Don't get bogged down in the organisation. I am talking from experience. I am a list writer, typer ect. I love to get organised but if you are not on stage you can be as organised as you want it won't make a differenc. Just keep woodshedding and get on a stage and do your stuff the rest will come. I have a pile of magazines on my desk as I type this that I have been meaning to go through for ideas for premises but I haven't had the time but I will have been on stage three times this week. Twice as a headliner and one time as a support. Which is more important. If worse comes to worse put everything in one pile and go through it when you can but more important do your thang!! Also I like to keep everything in a folder printed out in hard copy even material I don't like or use anymore because I have had my computer crash on me one too many times.
xoxo

Re: Material Organization
It's kinda an obvious question. But I was hoping there was another way of keeping hard copies of stuff. I'm gonna have a day of printing lined up for me....that's gonna be a lot of ink and paper!!!
I'm also trying to ensure that I always have access to a joke that I've written and possibly forgot about. I'm sure that there's stand-ups that have forgotten half of there jokes due to fawlty joke organization (I'm talking over a career).
