DR. KING

Post by dougdigitalpro »

Hope everybody is taking time out today to honor and remember a man who gave his life for something bigger than himself and give honor to his legacy. This site is a huge representation of that legacy so take a minute and post a small thank you to him for the freedoms we take so much for granted today.

Appaloosa,

and the McChicken grilled. hmmm hmm

but did anyone catch The Boondocks Return of the King episode last night. I hate to say it, but would be about right. King instead of being mortally wounded, goes into coma and awakens today just after Rosa Parks passing. King turns on the TV and sees BET, but w/butts in thongs in his face. he can't get into his own event to speak because he ain't on "the list". when he says he's Dr. Martin Luther King, the bouncer says "well, I'm Malcolm X nigga, you ain't getting in". King gets to the mic and tries to talk but niggas are busy wiling out.

but we have come a long way. more african americans than ever before have gone to college. more work for government agencies whereas previously denied to even enter them. more are in all areas of law enforcement and legal services.

women owned businesses are up.

we can now sue, and sue up the ass.

interracial marriages are no longer outlawed.

because it's all about the dollar and you can pretty much live anywhere except the exclusive "invisible" whites only/preferred areas which still block minority residents. but who wants to live around ignorant folks anyway.

but still got a ways to go to demonstrate how to wisely spend and build in urban areas.

tamra, Just had to drop in to pay respect to Dr King, you have to know that he knew his life would end early, and to do what he did anyways takes a courage that's hard to imagine.

Murphdogg,

Why in this fucked up world do we get over 100 years to endure people like Strom Thurmond, but we get such a short time with the truly great such as Saint Martin Luther King Jr?

Murphdogg,

and a lot of people are scared to take that next step and pick up where he left off. they don't want the spotlight out of fear of the same ending.

because we seriously need someone in the hood going door to door. it's ridiculous. but only Mormons are brave enough to take that step in the hood, but only for their religion purposes.

Sharpton's brave, but the moment more people start taking him more seriously who knows what his fate will be. I know we ain't ready for no president w/a relaxer. just get us in The White House and THEN we'll relax, corn row, twist, wrap, dred, and all that to the "do"

astonamous,

that is wonderful. and an education seriously needed in many levels of public office, as how can you represent people if you don't understand them.

I wish Andrew Young would run for a higher level of office. or wouldn't that be nice: Carter/Young 08.

or Young/Edwards or Carter/Edwards. I can dream for now and pray on it.

Young has always been consistent, and one of those old school cats from New Orleans you can always trust to keep their word.
