Please God, don't let Reagan die now...

Politics, religion, racism, sex, the weather... there's always lots to think about so there's always lots to talk about. Progressive ideas are encouraged but all opinions are welcome.

Please God, don't let Reagan die now...

Post by JTF »

I just heard that Ronnie Reagan isn't doing too well. I hope he doesn't die. I have thought for a while that we need a democrat in office when he dies. A dem would show the former prez the proper respect given to a former president. You have to. A republican will make such a big fucking deal that it will be sickening. Hell, bush might even wait three days to see if he rises from the dead.

I never liked Reagan's policies, but I have a whole new respect for the man now that I see what a horrible individual can be in power. Reagan was likely a figurehead with shitty policies that fucked the country, just as little bushy is now. The difference is that when you get down to it, Reagan was a likeable human being. Bushy might even try to use this to boost his campaign. ]:o(

JTF,

A fine actor.

And wasn't he in movies or something?

Good point about the rebloodlican/democript post death respect.... Reagan's gotta hold on, damnit! Tell him he's in a war film and if he dies the Nazis win. He'd believe it enough to hang in there until Kerry gets to be president.

jane_haze,
I really Kerry's perspective on many major issues and policies, but I've also been doing alot of research on Ralph Nader. What has your knowledge of the GreenParty been? Anyone with an opinion, should feel free to voice it. @.@

Tifah,

The Republican party is Coke.
The Democrat party is Pepsi.
The Green party is Dr. Pepper.

Not much difference between the first two, the third nobody drinks.

"Diet Dr. Pepper tastes more like regular Dr. Pepper." Is this really a selling feature???

Tifah,

My take on the Green Party is that it is a great idea and they fight for some good issues--as I tend to be on the liberal side in my thinking. I like to think people should be able to do what they want and say what they want and live how they want within reason and not be punished for it.

Green Party stands for that type of stuff. But, here's what the problem is with the green at this point in time--this election is too big of a deal to vote for anyone other than Kerry. If the country all of a sudden got to the point were they actually supported people who share their views, rather than what their buddies said, then the Green Party would be a good thing. We as a country are too off in a two party system....

But they do play a good role in politics. Just the fact that they congregate and get their opinions heard every once in a while is making a statement. I would support them in primaries and local elections, but the presidential election is just too big and important for a vote to be tossed to Nader this time. Bush has got to go!!! Normally, I'd say vote for who you feel most represents you from all the candidates...this time it's just between bush and kerry.

I would think the Green Party would be more of a tazo tea from starbucks--weird shit that not many people you know drink but some how it's got a market.

JTF,

Dr Pepper is good stuff man... One time I put a note on a soda machine to put in the Dr and it would sell like hot cakes. I'm not really sure if hot cakes sell all that well, but the next day after it was put in it immediately sold-out and the soda-pop-machine-filler-guy left a note that started out with "Due to the extreme popularity of Dr Pepper..." saying that he was coming back very soon with more and it turned out to be the only soda with two slots worth and it continued selling out before he could make it back and fill it back up on his route. Not even Coke or Pepsi got two slots. I don't like Diet Dr Pepper myself though as it doesn't taste like regular Dr Pepper at all in my opinion. To each their own of course my friend.

Your soda/politics comparison is right on. Here's really all that we have to offer so pick the one that best suits your tastes and prepare to do eternal battle, over mostly ridiculous matters, with the other two and all of the splinter soda groups like RC Cola as well.

Kinda like if I did dislike Dr Pepper, which I don't, I would agree and say "Yeah man, that stuff does taste like shit!", but I don't so my agenda here, we all have one folks, even the people whose agendas we don't agree with because they differ from our very own agendas, is saying "Hey, Dr Pepper is really good..."

This agenda policy goes for anything and everthing in life. Some people like their steaks rare, I like mine well done. Some people are vegetarians and don't realize that plants are life too and the harvesting process for the plants and foods that fuel vegetarians kill off billions of bugs and worms, I'm a meat eater as my incisors give me away. Some people like to see other people suffer, I like to see everyone do well, unless they're an asshole that is. In my eyes they may be an asshole but in the eyes of another they may be a saint. Some people like to drive a pickup truck, I like to drive a car. Some folks favorite color is red, I'm not sure what mine is. Some guys like guys, I like girls. And so on and so on and so forth and so on and so forth and so on and so forth infinite...

I liked President Reagan as a person as well. Great compassion and an engaging speaker, just like President Clinton was/is.
