Rest in peace, Ray Charles. He was a great musician and personality. It's odd--I was watching a saturday night live rerun last night where Dan Ackroyd as Tom Snyder was interviewing him, and he seemed so cool. Anybody remember that one? Dan/Tom says "I just saw this movie the miracle worker about a blind, deaf and dumb girl, and I was wondering what you thought of it Ray."
To which RC responds "....I haven't seen it."

He's not going to be forgotten.

Jennifer,
I think he understood comedy because he was the blind shopkeeper in "Ray's Music Exchange' in the Blues Brother Movie.
Remember when he hung the concert poster up-side down.
Humor is humor and I think Ray knew that.

No man, woman or child of any race, religion or nationality had more soul than Brother Ray. One of the first songs I ever taught myself on piano was Georgia On My Mind and it was the very first song I ever played in front of people (age 10 or so). Thanks for turning me on to performing, Mr. C. I'm gonna miss you. b.b ):) B-)
