Re: McCain Rejects Kerry's VP Overture
Who would be the next best choice to strengthen the ticket and send Lil' Georgie back to Texass?
I think Colin Powell would be an excellect VP. He would make Bush look really bad...

Re: McCain Rejects Kerry's VP Overture
astonamous,
I think the reason McCain turned Kerry down is he's looking to run in '08. If he accepts Kerry's proposal it would be political suicide. Win or lose, there would be no way he could ever get the republican nomination. If Kerry wins, he's then VP for 4-8 years. Too old to run in '12 for the top spot, even if he'd switch parties.
By turning Kerry down he becomes the leading republican candidate in '08. If Bush wins (**shudder**) Cheney is not gonna run in '08. If Kerry wins, Bush's people in the R-party are out of power, and McCain becomes the biggest name in the party.
A Kerry v. McCain campaign would be very interesting. McCain would simply run on the line of "While I like John Kerry, and consider him a friend, I disagree with many of his views on how this nation is run." If Kerry attacks McCain personally, he looks vicious. He also looks like a man who will do anything to win (which he is.)
