Greetings from Birmingham

Post by Ryan Gough »

Have just purchased Richard's DVD recorded in California in 1979. Why is it that so much humour dates over the years and has a short lifespan whereas this DVD is just as fresh and as funny as when I first saw it (against my parents wishes!) twenty years ago. Easily the best DVD I have ever bought and Sir Richard, you have millions of fans in the UK who bow down to you ! Being a comedian myself, we tend to be overexposed to stand up and it takes the enjoyment out of the art as we have a tendancy to analyse everything rather than laugh at the art. I can honestly say Richard that I have forgotten what genuine belly laughter felt like...until I bought your DVD. Thank you sir!

Ryan Gough,

In answer to your question, CD's only contain the audio of a performance. DVD's, however, have both audio and visual. Hearing a joke is fine. But stand up comedy also consist of act outs! Pryor is the God of act outs! His facial expressions alone can make you laugh so loud until incontinence becomes a fait accompli.
