George Lucas

Ok, Trudy don't trip! ;p I'm gonna go off on a bit of a thing here about someone I admire but something's been nagging at me and this is a good as place as any to discuss it.
The Star Wars Trilogy has been entertaining the child in all of us for almost thirty years. It is some of the most magical moviemaking imaginable. But the prequels have been an altogether different experience that poses more questions than answers and now with the final film, which is entitled "Revenge Of The Sith" ]:o)hitting theatres next summer and reading your thread on Bush's staged rallies and all the other bullshit he has been doing since he got in the White House, as time goes on, the comparison to the Chancellor in the prequels of the new SW films and the President are becoming increasingly more similar.
Not only that, the whole outer storyline (excluding Anakin's arc) of the prequels is mirroring our own government more and more. The Original Trilogy sent you into the stars. The prequel trilogy just makes you paranoid.
Does George Lucas know more than he is letting on?
Does he have an inside track?
You could say that Star Wars is based on many things and you can find similarities in all that it's based on, but the thing that bothers me is the timing of all this.
With an election on the horizon and the final installment of this series being about the bad guys taking over and getting their revenge, could the truth be staring us in the face and we don't know it?

Could these stories be predicting our own fate?
Could things get so bad that actual states begin succeeding from the U.S.? Much like during the Civil War.
Could we be at a point of no return?
Can America turn into an Evil Empire?

Sometimes it seems like it already is.

Rick McCallum's (producer)answer upon reading the script to Ep. 3: "I felt sad and BETRAYED."
George Lucas on the character Paplpatine succeeded in Ep. 1, Chancellor Valorum: "He's a beleagured leader, much like President Clinton."
Reagan did use the term "Star Wars" to describe his weapons program and this was during the "downtime" of Star Wars (1984-1988).

Where am I going with all this?

I pray and hope George Lucas isn't in on all of this with these bastards. A true insider who is playing the ultimate joke on millions of fans who follow this stuff almost like the bible and is getting filthy, nasty rich doing it.
I only pray.

dougdigitalpro,
Yeah you know I've been seen this and have made several comparisons to Palpatine and Bush a time or two on these boards. The paralels I think are a coincidence b/c this rise had already been kind of mapped out in the original trilogy but I think it sets up the perfect example of what happens if you give one person the total power to do whatever he wants to.And the fact that you know that Palpatine has fabricated the Clone Wars so that he can stay in power only points out more of the comparisons when you think about the U.S. in the middle East and Bush's bithch ass!!! ]:o(

bingolong,
Right. But even though he had the outline mapped out years ago. The mechanics of the story just recently came together and are still changing as we speak. George is known to be very liberal, so it may be his own weapon against the status quo. Ya know, feed the people knowledge but do it under the guise of fantasy. But he also is one of the richest men in America, so I don't know. It's just tripping me out how similar all this shit is becoming. I could just see ol' Bush revealing to little Bush, putting the hood on his head: "Yes, I am the Emperor, MawwwhhhhMaaawwwaaaahhh!"

billyb0y,
Great site! Thanks. I actually own one of the Ep. 2 posters he did. It's hanging on my office wall now.

I just saw a couple I would love to get my hands on. 8-O

astonamous,
As it stands now, it could swing either way. I would like to think he is using the movies to warn us that this could happen to us if we don't wake up. Another of his films that could hold some answers is his first flick THX-1138, which is coming back in limited release next month in a special director's cut and then to DVD. This film also explores the consequences of a repressive society.
I guess we'll know the final answer May 2005.
