Hey Y'all....Eddie Griffin is supposed to play Richard in a series for Showtime called "Pryor Offenses". I auditioned for the role of comedy club owner, "Jenine Dibianca". If any of you know if she is based on an actual person or persons please let me know as I meet with the director, Adam Steinberg, on Thursday. I've been doing as much research as possible to help me nail this role, prayers will be greatly appreciated!!! Thanks, ):)

bingolong,

Yeah Bingo. I was just about to say that. There are other club owners to be sure. But Pauly Shore's mother is the most well known. I think one of Bud Friedman's ex-wives own one of the Improvs. Sorry, wish I could be more helpful..

mojones,

Some on the site don't particularly care for Eddie Griffin, but I always found him pretty damn good. His albums "Message in the Hat" and "The Message" were both on point and very funny. For some reason people really detest him, evidence by the fact he was on comedy central's list but was given a 5 second mention. I understand he's an RP biter, he just happens to be one of the funnier retreads.

Anditsdeeptoo,
Here's the thing, Richard Pryor once proclaimed him the new "king of comedy"8-o (per what is printed in Griffith's liner "thank you" notes for his '99 CD "The Message",actually the main reason I bought his CD)Of course if Richard says something like that you are going to pay attention. That's how I became more of a Griffith fan.

But RP still wears the crown in my book regardless of what he says!!!

Eddie is hilarious. He is so funny. I saw his Dysfunktional Family standup movie & i laughed during the entire movie. I liked his old tv show Malcolm & Eddie with Malcolm Jamal Warner. I also liked his character in Jason's Lyric movie.

bingolong,

You know what? I adore Eddie, Colin Quinn, Denis Leary, Cedric, Chappelle, Cantone and every other comedian who appeared on the I'm Not Dead Yet Special! They all got promoted to comedic sainthood in my book. True greats always acknowledge the ones who blazed the path before them. Even Sir Isaac Newton said: "If I've seen further than others, it's only because I stood on the shoulder of giants." Giants don't come any taller than Pryor and Griffin has always acknowledged that.

That being said, I love to hear Griffin talk about religion. Funny and insightful...

Gretajenn,
The characte, based on Mitzi Shore. made Mitzi shore mad. About the Richard Bio pic. Mitzi's big claim to fame is the Comedy store in L.A. she has 3 class reunion tapes. Richard Pryor,Eddie Griffin and Me are on the 3rd of the series. "The Comedy Stores 20th reunion show". Mitzi's voice is very nasily like Roseanne Barr's...very, very much like Roseanne, and she's very quick to dictate what she likes to see on stage. The outrages doesn't shock her, and she's very demanding to her lackey's. I can tell you more, I worked for her for 16 years of my life.
Robbie Peron making audiences laugh since 1986...Beer making ugly people look attractive since 1786.

Robbie,
For the record, the character in our pilot was not based on Mitzi SHore...I've known Mitzi since 1977...and trust me, she's not a 30 year old blond, chicsa, NOR DOES ANY PART of Mitzi's personality resemble our character, as a matter of fact, our character was based on Jenine Garofolo...and furthermore our pilot takes place in 2004...
although Mitzi did have an affair with Richard ...that is where the similiary begins and ends...
These days there are abundance of female comedy club owners...Mitzi ain't the only party in town anymore...
what made her mad is her jealousy and when she had her lawyer call us, even her lawyer was embarrassed for it was clear to all, that Mitzi WISHES it were based on her but clearly isn't! She is more angry with herself...cause she hasn't delivered the promise that she made to herself about producing television shows which is what she has been wanting to do...and failed to do...she is a complicated person who isn't in touch with her feelings in any sense of the word...her anger and bitterness stems from an array of issues---none of which have to do with her jealousy regarding all things Richard Pryor... she has always felt a degree of entitlement regarding Richard...and once again, she is way off and so are you Robbie!
Belive me, RObbie, when spouting off about shit you know nothing, best idea ---is to at least inquire. SInce I was executive-producer on the project and know exactly how that character was developed... :X
