Some Good News the Papers don't want you to know...

Post by Visitor »

This is an email my cousin rec'd from a friend of his who a soldier in Iraq. With all the "bad" media out there about the war and why we are involved I thought it would be nice to spread some good news around. We are making a difference and we are fighting for something other than the price of a tank of gas.

"As I head off to Baghdad for the final weeks of my stay in Iraq, I wanted to say thanks to all of you who did not believe the media. They have done a very poor job of covering everything that has happened. I am sorry that I have not been able to visit all of you during my two-week leave back home. And just so you can rest at night knowing something is happening in Iraq that is noteworthy, I thought I would pass this on to you. This is the list of things that has happened in Iraq recently: (Please share it with your friends and compare it to the version that your paper is producing)

-Over 4.5 million people have clean drinking water for the first time ever in Iraq.
-Over 400,000 kids have up to date immunizations.
-Over 1500 schools have been renovated and ridded of the weapons that were stored there so education can occur.
-The port of Uhm Qasar was renovated so grain can be off loaded from ships faster.
-School attendance is up 80% from levels before the war.
-The country had it's first 2 billion barrel export of oil in August.
-The country now receives 2 times the electrical power it did before the war.
-100% of the hospitals are open and fully staffed compared to 35% before the war.
-Elections are taking place in every major city and city councils are in place.
-Sewer and water lines are installed in every major city.
-Over 60,000 police are patrolling the streets.
-Over 100,000 Iraqi civil defense police are securing the country.
-Over 80,000 Iraqi soldiers are patrolling the streets side by side with US soldiers.
-Over 400,000 people have telephones for the first time ever.
-Students are taught field sanitation and hand washing techniques to prevent the spread of germs.
-An interim constitution has been signed.
-Girls are allowed to attend school for the first time ever in Iraq.
-Text books that don't mention Saddam are in the schools for the first time in 30 years.
-Don't believe for one second that these people do not want us there. I have met many many people from Iraq that want us there and in a bad way. They say they will never see the freedoms we talk about but they hope their children will. We are doing a good job in Iraq and I challenge anyone, anywhere to dispute me on these facts. So If you happen to run into John Kerry, be sure to give him my email address and send him to Denison, Iowa. This soldier will set him straight. If you are like me and very disgusted with how this period of rebuilding has been portrayed, email this to a friend and let them know there are good things happening."

Visitor,
Gee, your cousin wrote the exact same letter as some other guy's brother and yet another guy's neighbor. This piece has been going around the internet for months. In any event, it's not that the papers don't want anyone to know this - nothing is being kept secret. This shit had BETTER be happening because if it wasn't there wouldn't be an American soldier left alive. I HAVE talked to a few Iraqis and they do NOT want us there. Yes, they have more clean water and much more access to outside communication for the first time in many years and that is great, but they are now FAR MORE AFRAID to leave their homes than they EVER were under Hussein's regime. And how about asking the thousands of Iraqi children who lost parents, siblings and limbs to US missles how glad they are we are there. All the improvements to the country could have been accomplished by removing Hussein in a much different, less bloody and less costly way. Fuck this "letter", fuck you and fuck the hell out of George W. Bush.

Visitor,

If you have a problem with the letter, address it to the person who wrote it, I'm passing it along as I feel it is my duty to remain well rounded on all issues, ALL perspectives. Fuck me? You don't know me, I don't want to know you if you go around pointing fingers at your fellow citizens. I feel for everyone who has lost anyone in any war. The fact of war is that it does cost lives, it costs money, and it's about who has more soldiers, amo, etc.

Going in 'we' new it would cost lives, on both side. In comparrison to other wars- the amount of time we have been over there, how many wounded and killed- on both sides (and the innocent civillians) have been kept at a minimum, though any loss always hurts whether it is One or A hundred and One. It hurts.

One day I hope that war and weapons and so forth will be a thing of the past, but as Dumbass pointed out with his many thought provoking quotes from our nations fore fathers, Weapons are a neccisty, at least to keep us safe from our own.

The only way we will know how much of a success this war was or wasn't is when it is all said and done and looking back, "hindsight is always twenty-twenty." -Billy Wilder

Oh, and for those who are interested, this is "Hubpluh" I was not scared and running away with my tail between my legs, I was booted off by 'her majesty' for whatever reason, she doesn't want to hear what I have to say. My only responce for you is;

"Are your convictions so fragile that mine cannot stand in opposition to them? Is your God so flimsy? So weak? For shame!" b.b :( :-x

[/i]ciao ciao babes, this is where I adieu...[/i]

Visitor,

Hey, if all you wanted to do was list the good things being done in Iraq, then that's all you should have done. I doubt anyone would have had anything bad to say in response and you probably would have even gotten some nice replies. But no, just like all the rest of the Republican slime out there, you had to turn it into an attack on Kerry as though he is not happy that there is now clean water in Iraq. It is disgraceful, it is disgusting and it is unconscionable.

Fuck Bush and all who support him!

Visitor,

37,000 lives estimated lost in Iraq. Fellow human beings squandered away for what? For oil or for religion or for both, since God is speaking to Bush and Bush is only interested in his oil buddies future economic riches.

Visitor,

Was your purpose here on this website to disrespect the hostess? Maybe it was to test her temper. If so, you succeeded. What you didn’t succeed in was proving to anyone here that your opinion is worth a dime.

We are a family of many different backgrounds. We come together here to talk about many different topics, our love for Richard Pryor being the only common denominator. In this slightly dysfunctional family that we have here, we have found many new friends, people that we can share other interests with. We can share and laugh about our own stupid mistakes, or other life’s lessons. We have the opportunity to communicate indirectly with a man who is a national treasure (I stole that line from Jennifer). Someone that has brought joy and laughter to each of us. Someone who always speaks the truth.

It is important to remember who is running this show, the matriarch of this funky family, Jennifer Lee Pryor. Some of us are misfits in society, and some of us are bored with our lives as they are, and some of us are artists trying to capture a piece of Pryor wisdom. All of us are here to be closer to Richard Pryor. None of us take kindly to anyone who comes in here and disrupts our harmony. And if "Her Majesty" decides that she has had enough of someone that can’t seem to grasp this concept, then she has the right and the power to kick your ass outta here. If you are looking for a place to talk to people who are going to agree with your narrow minded opinions about politics, you should log onto Laura Bush’s website. She is following two steps behind her husband and would surely love to have more company back there. Of course, you will be following them straight to hell.

Visitor,
Republicans SUCK! Interesting how the two issues of the visitor's support of the war and whatever problem she had with Mrs. Pryor are really connected. It's all about respect - a concept that not a Republican or Bush-supporter alive can comprehend. They do not respect human life, they do not respect human rights, they do not respect truth, they do not respect honor (or even know what the word means), they do not respect a fucking thing. And they sure as hell don't respect our Founding Fathers or the ideals they stood for. Republicans SUCK! Republicans SUCK!

Visitor,
I like what the visitor said about what this site should be and what it should be used for. When you cross that line and start digging at folks on a personal level, you should be prepared to take whatever wrath comes from it.
The letter is more fucking bullshit propaganda and anyone stupid enough to buy into it isn't probably smart enough to hang around here anyway.

astonamous,
Great write-up! You and Dave are defintely the political spokespeople of this site. :) It seems that the right tend to start up a lot of shit, get what they want out of it and then leave the messy clean up to the next Democratic President who's left to sort it all out and make the peace. You guys see the pattern here?
Now, it can be said they don't have control over who is elected but the 2000 election uncovered that isn't true.
If Bush is re-elected, I wouldn't be suprised if his presidency went the way of Nixon and may even play out the same way if it's found out something really criminal is going on that they can nail him on.
Either way, it's not gonna be pretty. It seems that in any president's second term over the last twenty years, it's all about trying to get them booted from office prematurely. Scandals happened with both Reagan & Clinton. They just couldn't uncover enough hard evidence to actually do an impeachment. It's like anything dirty they do comes back to haunt them in the second term. I'm sure the dirt that's piling on Bush would merit such an investigation during a second term.
