Robin Harris
Robin Harris, he was in the movies I'm Gonna Get U Sucka and House Party and was a voice on Babe's Kids. I here he was very funny but died young before he could become a popular comic. Is there any stand up of him available.
Re: Robin Harris
LKizzle,
Robin was one of my favorites. He was so funny. He character is just as strong as Rodney Dangerfield. He voice, delivery, his facial expressions etc. He was a one of a kind original in his style. He had a style that he could read the phone book and it would be funny. He died to early he was about to be huge.

Re: Robin Harris
amp-d,
Robin Harris didn't do stand up comedy. The man would simply get drunk, go up on stage and make fun of people. He never told any jokes but the mufucka is still one of the best ever. RIP. My favorite line... "People ask me why I wear my wedding ring on the wrong finger...B'cuz I married the wrong got damn woman!"

Anditsdeeptoo,
You're right. Harris didn't really do stand up comedy. Not modern stand up anyway. His was more of an old school/Don Rickles variety. But he was definitely funny. He just got on stage to have a good time. I wish he had lived longer. Would've been interesting to see how far he would've went...

I went to Zimbabwe. I know how white people feel in America now; relaxed! Cause when I heard the police car I knew they weren't coming after me!
Re: Robin Harris
Anditsdeeptoo,
I met a guy who owned a club in LA in the 80's and he would hire Robin to warm up before and in between soul and jazz bands. He said Robin was a great comic and people would love to come and see Robin.
I don't know I have Robin's CD and also remember seeing him on the old Robert Townsend Partner's In Crime specials and he looked like a comedian to me. He just seemed like a natural it would have been interesting to see how he progressed.

Don't misunderstand. I didn't mean to imply that Harris wasn't a comedian. Actually, I was referring to the genre of comedy he practiced. There's the old school (Don Rickles, Rodney Dangerfield), new school (Richard Pryor, Robert Klein) and a combination of the two (Robert Schimmel). If you had to categorize Robin, I would say he was old school. That's just my opinion. But old school isn't synonymous with bad or lousy comic...just different from what most comedians do onstage. I have nothing but respect for comics of every genre..

LKizzle,
Just to clarify, Robin Harris DID NOT do a "voice in Bebe's Kids". He was dead. The voice was done (and done quite well) by Faizon Love.
