JTF,

I wouldn't necessarily call what I do stand-up, but I guess there's a little bit of that in there. More along the lines of performance art and storytelling with a dash of humor.

Believe me, I am like no one else and no one else is like me so I couldn't possibly be stealing anybody's bread from them, no matter how they slice it.

Inkblot,

This is interesting - I was kinda hoping to see if anyone would come on here and explain what it was like to do coke before a gig.

I only did it once and I was the funniest motherfucker on the planet (no really, other people confirmed it) and I was curious as to it's confidence boosting effects on the stage. It's probably not the best idea to try it though - I mean what if you killed?

Yeah, because coke is a good idea. Just maintain that coke etiquette. You won't get hooked....riiiigghhhhtt...

Learn from Richard. Stop now and just go out and buy Peru while you still have the money.

garfy1974,

Damned if you do and damned if you don't

I love my art but I'm not willing to give up my health for it.

POST SCRIPT

I just did a gig on Thursday (stone cold sober I might add) and it all went swimingly. So far so good, however, when it came to the headline act he fell on to the stage pissed as a lord.

Now, it was clear that this guy was funny but out of about 45 minutes worth of stage time he had maybe 5 minutes of quality stuff. He felt that the fact that he was a drunk Canadian in an English club was sufficient to fill the quality gap. About 40% of the room agreed with him.

It would seem that being the headliner cuts you some major slack. Apparently, the fact that you are a drunk in a foreign land is enough for some people to get off. Time to emigrate I think.

Comedy is a very illogical thing.
