One of my favorites, but what do YOU think?

This is a bit from my stand-up routine, and I want some honest feedback on it.

"Horrible story in the paper yesterday. It seems that out in L.A., a police-dog got away from the K-9 unit, and while it was out, it attacked and severely mauled a 39 year-old Mexican woman and her 3 year-old nephew. The spokesman for the LAPD, fearing bad press over the incident, was quick to respond at a press conference, 'We have no idea how this could have possibly happened. Our dogs are only trained to attack blacks.'"

Personally, I think this is one of the best written jokes I have. That may not say a lot for my act, but I stand by my assessment.

People have told me that the joke if racist, prejudiced, hateful, etc... Personally, I think it only comments on the racism that is rampant in the LAPD.

I am not asking you to be kind, but to be honest.

Surprise. Surprise. I like it too.

Reminds me of a similar joke I told about a local sports celebrity defending himself against molestation charges. "I didn't want to sleep with my daughter your honor, but my niece had a headache!" Of course, I didn't open with it. But back to you. I loved the concept. I think you might need to shorten it just a bit. But what the hell do I know...

Fuck being politically corect! The fact that it's possible makes the joke funny. Besides, how could a K9 detect drugs in a car's fuel tank, but not sniff out the orange rind scent on her fingertips? Unless she just left KFC, then I could understand his confusion. One other thing, Blacks and Mexicans don't have children together because then they'd grow up too fucking lazy to steal. SAFE!!!

Thanks all. That means a lot to me. Especially the praise from you, Jen. I don't think my feet have touched the ground since I read that. I have a feeling that if I tell my friends ONE MORE TIME about you saying, "It's very Richard", I'll have to get some new friends. Can't say that will be much of a sacrifice. Thanks again.
